M. Amin Khan, PhD, President & Chief Scientific Officer, Director
Amin joined Trinity as chief scientific officer and chief operating officer in 2008. With more than 20 years of experience in the biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry, Amin has held executive level scientific and management positions, most recently with Eli Lilly and Company. His scientific work has focused on issues of drug absorption and optimization for small molecule compounds and bio-therapeutics. His R&D experience spans lead optimization, development and manufacturing sciences. Amin holds a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Nottingham, UK and a BSc (with honors) in biophysical sciences from East London University, UK.

René Castro, PhD, Chief Business Officer
René joined Trinity as chief business officer in 2009. His experience in the life science industry has focused on sourcing, structuring and negotiating licensing, collaboration, M&A and financing transactions. René was formerly the chief business officer at Anza Therapeutics, and prior to that, he was the senior director of business development at Exelixis. Before Exelixis, René was in the healthcare investment banking group at Goldman, Sachs & Co., working on M&A, securities issuance, raid defense and other corporate finance and strategic activities. Before joining Goldman Sachs, René was a post-doctoral fellow at the Scripps Research Institute. René earned a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Miami, an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and a BM with honors in music performance with a minor in chemistry from the University of Miami.

John M. Harland, MA, MBA, CPA, FCA, Vice President, Finance and Administration
John joined Trinity in 2008 He has more than 20 years of senior executive experience serving as chief financial officer of several high technology and medical device companies, most recently at Accuray Incorporated. He has taken four companies public: Alliance Fiber Optic Products, CardioVascular Imaging Systems, Neurobiological Technologies and Circadian. He was also the CFO of several companies that were successfully acquired, including: Indigo Medical, acquired by J&J; Influence Inc., acquired by AMS; and Biometric Imaging, acquired by Becton Dickinson. Previously, John worked with Ernst & Young. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MA in natural sciences and business studies from Cambridge University, UK and an MBA, with distinction, from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.

Richard Pittner, PhD, Vice President, Molecular Biology and Protein Engineering
Richard joined Trinity in 2008, working first as a consultant. Richard has more than 17 years of biotechnology experience leading early-stage research in start-up and later-stage development companies. His core expertise is in the discovery and validation of novel therapeutics for diabetes, obesity and metabolic diseases and the development of novel delivery technologies. Prior to Trinity, Richard served as senior director of discovery biology and director of cell and molecular biology at Amylin Pharmaceuticals. Prior to Amylin, Richard held an academic position in the department of physiology at LSU Medical Center. His post-doctoral positions include the department of biochemistry at the University of Tennessee, the Institute of Biochemistry, Universidad de Madrid, and the department of biochemistry at the University of Nottingham. He holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham, UK, and a BSc in biochemistry (with honors) from the University of Sheffield, UK. He is widely published and the inventor on many patents.

N. Stephen Pollitt, PhD, Acting Vice President, Process Sciences
Steve joined Trinity in 2008 following 17 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with Scios and Johnson & Johnson, where he served as project leader on several early phase drug discovery and development projects, including compound development team leader for a recombinant biologic transitioning into the clinic. He directed host cell development for Natrecor, an acute congestive heart failure treatment which received FDA approval in 2001. Steve's expertise is in early drug development and transition into the clinic as well as risk mitigation, scientific and strategic assessment of preclinical data and management of outside contract research organizations and collaborators. Steve holds a PhD in molecular biology from Purdue University and a BS in chemistry with honors from the University of Georgia. He was a postdoctoral fellow at SUNY, Stony Brook and a research assistant professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is the author of 16 scientific papers, 5 US patents and 2 pending applications.
