Trinity Biosystems Appoints René Castro, PhD, as Chief Business Officer
Menlo Park, CA - September 8, 2009 - Trinity Biosystems, a privately held biotechnology company that designs orally delivered bio-therapeutic macromolecules, today announced that it has appointed René Castro, PhD, as chief business officer, responsible for directing the company's business and corporate development strategies.
Dr. Castro is an accomplished biotechnology executive with experience in executing partnering and research collaborations, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and operational management. Dr. Castro previously served as chief business officer with Anza Therapeutics where he established several research, licensing and collaborative agreements and clinical contracts. Prior to Anza, Dr. Castro worked in the business development group at Exelixis, negotiating multiple pharmaceutical and agricultural biotechnology collaborations and financing transactions. Prior to Exelixis, Dr. Castro was in the healthcare investment banking group at Goldman, Sachs & Co., working on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and strategic activities for clients in the healthcare industry. Dr. Castro holds a MBA from the Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College and a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Miami. He was a post-doctoral fellow at The Scripps Research Institute, and is the author of several scientific publications.
