Trinity Biosystems is a privately held biotechnology company focused on the rational design of orally delivered bio-therapeutic macromolecules. Macromolecules include proteins, peptides, antibodies and antibody fragments which are large, complex molecules used to treat many serious human diseases. While therapeutically valuable, macromolecules have been mainly limited to systemic delivery through infusion and injection, and oral delivery remains an unmet medical need. Trinity aims to expand the therapeutic potential of these important pharmaceuticals by applying its proprietary scientific know-how to achieve successful oral delivery.
Trinity is developing drug candidates for metabolic and other disorders based on its proprietary TriPex™ system, a unique approach to macromolecule delivery that works cooperatively with the natural physiology of the body. The TriPex™ system utilizes a specific and efficient natural biological transport mechanism: a receptor-mediated transcellular transport pathway that allows passage through the mucosal epithelium and delivery of the therapeutic "payload" into the blood.
Leveraging this proprietary approach, Trinity intends to set the gold standard for achieving oral delivery of macromolecules. The company is implementing a scientifically rigorous, data-driven strategy to validate its technology and build a clinical development pipeline.
