Description:

Trinity Biosystems focuses on the development of oral therapeutic proteins based on a novel and proprietary technology platform for transmucosal protein delivery in major areas of unmet medical need. The company aims to expand its capacity to generate development candidates and support preclinical studies. Currently we have an opportunity for a Scientist I/II, Mass Spectrometry

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as principle in-house expert on mass spectroscopy and provide expertise and advice to the company in the area of mass spectrometry. Develop and validate Mass Spectrometry assays for the measurement of proteins and peptides in complex biological mixtures. Supervise and mentor associates as needed.
Guide the development of mass spectroscopy as a tool to achieve Trinity’s business goals. Perform mass spectrometry analyses on a variety of samples including cell culture media, purification buffers, protein formulations and various animal and human serum samples. Provide various enzymatic maps of the proteins expressed and purified at Trinity and enable the elucidation of protein structures as they are manufactured and used in biological and biochemistry studies. Maintain the equipment, prepare reagents. Perform various digestion procedures in a variety of samples. Perform data analysis and summarize test results regularly in presentations and in report format. Write or edit new or existing SOPs. Collaborate with colleagues and provide service, expertise, and insight to the process development, formulation, and preclinical departments.

Requirements:

PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry, Physics, Biophysics or related disciplines
At least 3-5 years of experience applying mass spectroscopy to the analysis of peptides and proteins in the biotech/biopharmaceutical industry
Thoroughly familiar with a variety of mass spectrometry instruments and procedures including MALDI and various Triple Quad instruments, TOF, LC-MS, MS/MS, SRM, etc…
Thoroughly familiar with a variety of software and protein databases in support of the interpretation of data.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced start-up setting. Excellent interpersonal skills with the desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with GLP/GMP and CMC section assembly for IND and NDA submissions is a plus.
